Easter Dirt Cake: Recipe for a Fun and Yummy Holiday Treat
After making the traditional dirt cups for Halloween with gummy worms, I wanted to change the recipe a bit to customize it for Easter. That’s how I landed on the idea of making a cute Easter bunny dirt cake. It is so simple that your little one could help you out in the making and he would be more than happy to have a role in this delicious preparation that you will relish not only in Easter but all spring long.
Easter Dirt Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 6 oz pack of chocolate instant pudding
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened to room temperature for ease of blending)
- 8 oz cool whip
- ½ cup softened margarine or butter
- Bunny shaped marshmallow peeps and M&Ms for decorating
- Crushed Oreos (enough to cover the base of a 9×13 baking dish, in two separate layers)
Instructions
- Combine cream cheese, pudding, butter and cool whip to make a creamy filling. You need to beat the mixture until it is smooth.
- Place half of the Oreo cookie crumbs at the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.
- Top with the filling mixture and put a layer of the remaining crushed Oreo cookies over it.
- Let the dirt cake chill in a refrigerator for at least 2 hours
- Garnish the cake with marshmallow bunny peeps and M&Ms just before serving.
I love to decorate my Easter dirt cake with marshmallow peeps and M&Ms, but you can go ahead and deck it up with edible grass and chocolate eggs if you so wish. Strawberries dipped in a smooth melted mixture of candy melts can be made to resemble carrots too. So, as you can see, a no-bake Easter garden dirt cake has everything it takes to endear it to kids as well as adults and gel with the season.
