Guide to Making Delicious Oreo Dirt Cake
After my homemade dirt cups became a hit at my son’s birthday party, I thought of using a similar recipe for making dirt cakes. Oreos are an all-time favorite of kids and they have been used generously in this dessert, making it simply mouth-watering. The other ingredients further enhance and balance the taste. Oreo Dirt Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 package Oreos
- 2 boxes instant white chocolate or vanilla pudding (3.3 oz box size)
- 16 oz cool whip
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup butter or Margarine
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 cups milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Crush the Oreos into small pieces.
- Place 2/3rds of the crushed Oreos at the base of a 9×13 pan. Set it aside.
- Combine the cream cheese and butter until the mixture becomes smooth, devoid of lumps.
- Add powdered sugar and fold in whipped topping. Set it aside.
- Mix pudding, milk and vanilla in a separate bowl.
- Fold in this mixture with the cream cheese mixture.
- Pour it over the Oreo layer
- Sprinkle the remaining Oreos over the cake.
- Let it set for around 4 hours in the refrigerator till serving time
Decoration Ideas
- If you are making this cake for a birthday, you can top it with some gummy worms to endear it to kids. It can also be a great dessert idea for a Halloween party.
You can store the leftovers refrigerated in an airtight container and enjoy them for around 3-5 days. Also, you can mix and match your favorite flavors of Oreos while making this cake. Since the dish is served cold, it suits summer gatherings.
