When my best friend was to have her first baby boy, the onus of hosting her baby shower party was on me. The food arrangements were done, the decoration plans were made, but I couldn’t come up with any exciting activities for the guests. Finally, after much thinking, me and my girl pals decided to get everyone tie dye a bunch of white infant onesies in the backyard of her house. Everyone present enjoyed the activity and just couldn’t stop playing with colors.

If there is one hobby that children love, then it has to be scribbling anywhere and everywhere with colorful chalks. A big fan of glow in the dark wall decals, I came up with an idea of infusing some shine into chalks and gift them to my nephews. Four Ways to Use Coconut Oil for Acne Scars

Get rid of the ugly scars left behind by acne with the help of simple coconut oil home remedies. For those who are wary of using oil on the acne-prone skin, check on the facts. Coconut oil boasts of lauric, capric and caprylic acids in its contents that not only assist in fading acne scars but also stop them from recurring. Add to that, Vitamins E and C that tighten your skin, preventing ageing and protecting against UV rays.

Avoid skin irritations by using coconut oil that is organic, cold-pressed, unrefined and extra-virgin.

Acne Scar Removal with Just Coconut Oil

  1. Apply a thin film of extra virgin coconut oil over cleaned skin.
  2. Gently massage in a circular motion for 5 minutes.
  3. Leave on for 30 minutes before wiping with a tissue.
  4. First, rinse with warm then cold water. Pat dry.

Repeat the above process 2-4 times daily for best results.

For additional toning, you can mix ½ tbsp rose water with each tbsp of coconut oil you use. Like coconut oil, rose water has excellent anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties that can quickly heal even old acne scars.

Coconut Oil and Turmeric to Get Rid of Red Acne Scars

Bank on the redness and inflammation reducing powers of turmeric along with the benefits of coconut oil in this easy remedy.

  1. Add 1 tsp turmeric powder to 1 tbsp coconut oil. Mix well.
  2. Apply all over the affected parts of the skin and leave on for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Make your fingers wet and massage for 5 minutes.
  4. Rinse first with warm then cold water. Pat dry.

Repeat daily for visible results within a fortnight (the time taken may vary from person to person).

Coconut Oil and Baking Soda Scrub

With a little help from the versatile baking soda, you can exfoliate to remove dead skin cells while lightening acne spots.

  1. Massage a mixture of 1 tbsp coconut oil and 1 tsp baking soda over the skin.
  2. Leave on for 5 minutes.
  3. Massage gently with wet fingers for 10 minutes.
  4. Wash off with cold water. Pat dry.

Repeat every day.

Coconut Oil, Honey and Lemon Face Mask

Fight deep acne marks with the lightening properties of honey and coconut oil and cure them with lemon juice, all packed together in a healthy mask.

  1. Combine 1 tbsp coconut oil with 2 tsp raw honey and ½ tsp lemon juice thoroughly.
  2. Apply a thick coat of the mix on a clean face.
  3. Allow mask to soak in for 10 minutes.
  4. Wash off with cool water. Pat dry.

Repeat twice a week.

Forget the agonies of public appearances and the hours spent in concealing acne scars, by reviving clear, youthful skin.

How to Remove Blackheads from Nose Naturally at Home

Blackheads are a real pain on the nose, and removing them with an extractor only adds to the pain. But, there are other, equally effective home remedies to get rid of those little black spots – almost instantly! Find out how.

Baking soda to remove deep blackheads

What you’ll need

  • 4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup mineral water

What to do

  1. Wash your face with a mild soap or face wash to remove oil and dirt.
  2. Now massage a good scrub gently on the wet skin of your nose in small circular motions for around five minutes. This exfoliates dead skin cells and makes it simpler to remove deep blackheads.
  3. Steam your face for 10 minutes, paying special attention to the area around the nose.
  4. Now mix the baking soda and water to make a pack.
  5. Apply the paste to your nose, as a thick layer. Let it dry for 10 minutes.
  6. Rinse well with warm water, pat dry and apply a moisturizer.

Using the baking soda pack regularly, at least 2-3 times a week, can help to keep blackheads away permanently. It works equally well on your entire face, including your lips.

Homemade clay mask for removing blackheads on your nose

What you’ll need

  • 1 tbsp bentonite clay
  • Apple cider vinegar or water

What to do

  1. Blend the bentonite clay with vinegar or water to make a dough, resembling the consistency of putty.
  2. Use your clean fingertips to cover the area around your nose with a thin layer.
  3. Let it sit until it dries. It should take around 10-25 minutes.
  4. Rinse off with lukewarm water and moisturize well with a cream or lotion.

Blackhead removal strips with egg white

What you’ll need

  • White of an egg
  • Facial tissue

What to do

  1. Rinse your face well and pat it dry.
  2. Apply a thin layer of egg white on the nose.
  3. Place a strip of tissue paper over the egg white on your nose. Press it gently, allowing the whole thing to dry well.
  4. Apply another layer of egg white over the tissue paper. Let it dry.
  5. Apply a third coat of egg white.
  6. When the mask is completely dry, you will find the skin on your face feel tight.
  7. Peel off the tissue. Gently wash off your face to get rid of any residue.
  8. Pat dry and moisturize.

Keep a few things in your mind before trying any of these natural remedies; never try to pick at the blackheads with your nails to remove it and always make sure to wash your hands with soap before using the above methods as touching them with dirty hands may worsen the problem.
